Rafa Hails Andriy Veronin

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez talked about 27-year-old Veronin will move to Anfield on a free transfer from Bayer Leverkusen at the end of the season.

“People should not think that just because Veronin is a free transfer he is not a good player,” said Benitez.

“In normal circumstances he is a player who would be worth maybe three or four million pounds but because he is at the end of his contract he can join without a fee and it’s good business.

“Veronin has a lot experience in the Bundesliga and has played a lot of games for his country, including the World Cup.

“He is more of a second striker. If you were to compare him with others, he’s more like Craig Bellamy in his style of play than Peter Crouch.

“He is a runner and a hard worker who can score goals. Maybe between ten and 15 a season.”
